Easels on the edge of the cliff  2006
When I walk in nature I feel connected to the land and its elemental strength and acceptance. I feel closer to the earth’s relationship with water, which cleanses and renews with each tide, a fresh start every 12 hours. I like to climb hills and cliffs and look out over a vast expanse of earth, ocean and sky. I breathe the wind, watch sand flats being erased by the restless tides, and listen, in a sanctuary of silence. Recent studio paintings are based on erosional landforms silently transformed by gravity and the forces of nature, damage and loss that suggest broader, global issues.
